Employees’ socialization in Lithuanian preschools – myth or reality (situational analysis)

Abstract

The concept of the process of employee socialization, factors involved in and separate stages of this process, i. e. employment, adaptation and integration, are analysed. Analysis of scientific, methodical and legal materials indicates that the managing model adopted by the managers a correct interpretation of the ongoing changes in the organization, the insights of the work-collective, particularly of the leading staff, in harmonizing the individual and the organizational systems of values, well-timed and effective support and help determine a successful socialization of new employees. In the process of socialization, the sharing of professional skills, knowledge, organizational culture values and self-help are essential. Nevertheless, in some organizations vocational training and development are emphasized, whereas psychosocial adaptation is neglected. Such incorrect interpretation disturbs the process of socialization. The article presents an analysis of characteristics of the socialization of new employees in Lithuanian preschools. Recommendations for organizing the process of socialization are proposed, based on the results of the study.
