Abstract

In this paper a theoretical approach to electromagnetic field distribution in a dielectric slab is discussed. Electrodynamical of the problem involves Hertzian potentials. The electromagnetic field distribution in the slab depends on a function U(x,y) that obeys the two-dimensional Helmholtz equation. Cylindrical waves are one of possible electromagnetic field configurations in the slab that occurs when the function U(x,y) is expressed in cylindrical coordinates.
