Manifestation of discrimination: actual situation and trends in the field of anti-discrimination in Lithuania
Abstract
In Lithuania, discrimination issues appeared in the public space only after the re-establishment of the Independence. Before 1991, discrimination issues had been not analysed in public, and manifestations of discrimination had not been reflected by any statistical indicators.
There is little available statistical information on the social-economic situation of different social groups in our country. There is a shortage of information about manifestations of discrimination in various fields of life and activities. Therefore, it is not always possible to provide a relevant statistical information on the indicator of possible discrimination.
Issues of drawing up equality statistics, the situation of discriminated groups and the trends in antidiscrimination in Lithuania are discussed in the article, based on various data sources and surveys.
