Abstract

The stability of democracy and its effective performance depend on citizens’ will to recognize and accept rules. Citizens are free to choose a number of ways to influence the political process. However, not all modes of political participation are of equal value with respect to the consolidation of a newly established democratic system. Based on the survey conducted in Lithuania in 2010, the article draws the conclusion that the identified
groups (moderate optimistic, non-trusting active, non-trusting passive) are different in profession, evaluations of personal economic situation before the Independence, satisfaction with life, attitudes towards individual abilities to control one’s private life and procedural justice in the health sector.
