Anti-political moods in Lithuania: “money” parties, private motherland and the unbearable burden of political life
Abstract
The phenomena of anti-political attitudes are observable practically worldwide, nearly everyone democratic state witnessing radical changes in political participation, political thinking and political inclusion. Along with the growing disappointment with politics and widespread anti-political attitudes, there is a shrinkage of the public spaces, clear ideological distinctions among political parties and the confluence of politics and show business, known as politainment. In the article, the popular perceptions of “political” and anti-political attitudes in Lithuania are analyzed on the basis of four focus groups.
