From ethnic and civil identity towards state identity
Abstract
This paper is aimed to describe the state identity vs., let us say, European identity (as a special case of trans-national or supra-national identity), paying special attention to the dimensions of national, political, economical or cultural diversity that may conform it. The main components of state identity possible for their further empirical investigation are discussed. Analysis of the role of state identity for strengthening and retaining the statehood of a country is mostly directed toward the political and civic context.
