Some news in Lithuanian parts of philosophy in 2014 – two philosophers, two appreciations
Abstract
The article presents two important events for Lithuanian culture and philosophy. The first one is the awarding of Jonas Basanavičius State Prize to Dr. Vaclovas Bagdonavičius and the second one is the granting of Honorary Doctorate Degree of Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) to Dr. Žibartas Juozas Jackūnas. The attention is paid to the significance of these events for our academic community and for all the society. It is briefly discussed why these events are urgent for the development of Lithuanian philosophy since the independence and what possible influence they have on the Lithuanian humanities as such in the nearest future.
